DUBINGIAI OPEN 2017 - 12th International Senior Tennis Tournament

On July 5-8 for the twelth time already the region of Dubingiai will host an International Seniors' tennis tuornament DUBINGIAI OPEN 2017

The competition will be organized for men and women of senior age categories. All maches will be played on the four professionally equipped courts, located at Tennis and padel club DUBINGIAI.

Dubingiai – the most picturesque Lithuanian town, located in the south of Moletai region, on the shore of the longest lake in Lithuania - Asveja.

Dubingiai region was first mentioned in “Livonian Chronicle” , describing 1334 Livonian Order attack against Lithuania .

 From the beginning of the sixteenth century to the end of the seventeenth century the dynasty of Radvilos ruled Dubingiai. It is known, that in 1547-1548 Barbora Radvilaite lived in Dubingiai for 5 months, after her secret marriage with Zygimantas Augustas.

 Before the war, President Antanas Smetona had his villa in this area. In 1934, the President also initiated the building of a first bridge across the lake.

 In 2004, during the Dubingiai castle site’s church archeological research, the remains of Radvilos family were found. In 2009, the remains were ceremoniously reburied in Dubingiai castle site.

 In 2012, Dubingiai were first in Lithuania to be granted the name of “Taika” town (“Peace”).

 Picturesque lake of Asveja is the biggest adornment of nature in Dubingiai and its surroundings. It is the longest lake in Lithuania – streched over 22 km, and the deepest slacks reach over 50 meters. Asveja lake is conneced to Zeimena through rivers, therefore you can even sail all the way to Neris river.

 Nowadays, Dubingiai are recorded into Lithuanian history, right along with Trakai, Kernave and Vilnius.

 In this historic shelter of nature , at the homestead of Š. Marčiulionis, the 12^th anniversary International senior’s tennis tournament “DUBINGIAI Open 2017” will take palce.
